everybody is a critic

The true wonder of the internet is that suddenly everyone has a voice, and most of us feel absolutely no compunction against sharing the deepest of our thoughts (however shallow those ideas may actually be) with total and complete strangers.

Why?

Perhaps it is because our voices are lost in the cacophony of the global village, and only those who would filter the noise - those who would elect to find us because they are like us - do so. In this, searching for information has become a self-fulfilling prophecy: infoSeek, and ye shall find. Does this mean that the world has become increasingly insular with increasingly self-selected and isolated 'elite' social groupings who will congregate together in a virtual world despite the fact that we are physically spread out across the continents?

I would hope not.

I would hope that the fact that all of us come from so many different historical and cultural backgrounds, and that all of us belong to so many different and intersecting coteries of interest that we all maintain our own interlocking senses of identity that will encourage others who share some of our interests to experience and explore some of the others.

Now go and check the links page... I've updated again.
